microx 3.1.0, a diagnostic microbiology software application

I am pleased to present an online beta version of Microx 3.1.0, an application designed for a routine diagnostic services in a small laboratory or a teaching hospital.  View the demo video here.

My early attempts were in Foxpro DOS. My subsequent releases were in Foxpro 2.6 windows version. Finally, I have a version that should work on any computer running on Microsoft windows XP.
So what is this about?

This application performs simple tasks of maintaining registry of various diagnostic investigations performed and analysis of data. In simple, this application can be used to record specimen received for diagnosis, entry of their results and analysis of all the data.
The components of this application are the following:
  • Document receipt of specimen for diagnostic tests and billing
  • Entry of the results of specific investigations
  • Summary of incomplete and pending investigations
  • Searching for specific files.
  • Viewing and printing diagnostic test reports.
  • Modifying the files
  • Special provision for water analysis and O.T swabs
  • Setting specimens, investigations and antibiotics
  • Obtain summary of investigation in any period
  • Analyze culture and antibiotic susceptibility results
  • Obtain financial summary from billing.
  • Delete and backup files

This application was developed for a small teaching hospital laboratory that is so common in India. While this was exclusively developed for one institution in mind, several other laboratories may find it useful. Since each laboratory has its own way of conducting affairs of the diagnostic services it is impossible to have a software that is universally applicable.
